Boulders

So far there is nothing special about the huge boulders that you will encounter as the game progresses. Most games tend to add something extra special to objects in the background. No matter how many times you try to maneuver your character to that huge boulder to move it, nothing special happens afterwards.

The Ropeways

Sliding down the ropeways leads to the next level down and oftentimes, either at the right or the left, there are two levels that seems like you can jump onto them. There are maybe levels that you either have already passed or you might be passing further in the game, but it is not possible to jump in the middle of the ropeway to get to those levels. Just give up on trying to get to those levels if you do not want to lose the points that you have accumulated.

The Floating Island

As you traverse further into the game, you will notice some islands or objects floating across the road, some in the background. It can get quite tempting to jump over to that island, as you might get extra bonuses that are ultimately special that it doubles your total points. Judging on how high your character can jump, you will just have to give up, because you will be heading to your grave.

The Mines

Some players may have thought that at least the mine tunnels have a hidden passageway or special bonuses if you do some simple tricks to open them. The amazing part of this area is that you only get to ride through it, without anything extra special happening.

Just Decorations?

Maybe all these things that you will notice in the game are just there for display and have no extra meaning to them. At least, you should learn to trick in the game if you are still new to it: a cliff with right or left paths. There is nothing special with either path, just choose one randomly before you go directly over the cliff.

-Multiply and Conquer: The easiest way to get a larger score (so you can brag to everyone you know) is to utilize your score multiplier. To do this, you need to complete different objectives. Each objective ups your multiplier by one, so focus on those objectives first to get your score really high.

It may seem counterproductive to spend 1,000 meters of your run avoiding coins entirely, but in the end the payoff is worth it.

-Coins, Coins, Coins: Coins are the currency in Temple Run and they are used to upgrade the characters and gameplay. The fastest way to start earning coins is to upgrade the "Coin Values" under abilities. Doing this will make the double and triple coins appear on the track. Also, everyone's favorite powerup is the magnet- it helps you get every coin near you as you run.

Not only that, those "Coin Value" powerups add a splash of color to the game once they kick in. So pretty.

-Going the Distance: Clearly, you want to run as far as you can. To do that, it sometimes means you must sacrifice extra coins for bonus items. The shield power will help with obstacles, but remember, it won't protect you from falling. The Boost, at the beginning of the game, can also help you move forwards faster.

Makes sense, though as a coin hoarder the idea of skipping coins in favor of a temporary special power makes me twitch.

Review:That Old Familiar Feeling of Temple Run 2

Not a lot has changed in Temple Run 2 on a fundamental level, it still plays very much like the original game you know and love, but it has received a massive upgrade in the visual department along with a few new tweaks to the formula that make it a substantial improvement over the first game in just about every way. It feels like a fresh start, a new Temple Run that's geared towards the future.
    I'm sure most everyone is familiar with how Temple Run works, but just for kicks let's go over the basics. You follow your perpetually running character from a third-person perspective as they're being chased by a humongous demonic primate. You see, your adventurer swiped the beast's precious idol and that didn't seem to go over too well, so now you've got to run for your life.
Control of your character is handled by swiping up or down to jump over or slide under obstacles, and swiping left or right to turn when necessary. Tilting your device moves the character back and forth inside the lane for collecting coins and avoiding additional hazards. That's about all there is to it, and it works great. Temple Run 2 is one of those perfect games to play with just a single free hand, for just a few minutes at a time or for hours on end as you tirelessly try to top your best run. Nothing has changed with the sequel in that regard.

The biggest improvement in Temple Run 2 is in the graphics department. The game has been built from scratch in Unity and boasts gorgeous lighting and colors as well as extremely fluid animations. My one gripe is that the draw distance isn't the best, which means environmental elements will pop-in right in front of your eyes. It doesn't really bother if you're focusing on not dying like you should be, but it's still kind of disappointing considering what iOS devices are capable of.
The original Temple Run didn't have that great of a draw distance either, but it was masked quite ingeniously using a fog effect that worked well with the dank jungle theme. InTemple Run 2 you're running in a temple in the sky, so everything is right out there in the open. This new sky temple is great though, offering a much more dynamic feel to the level design. The track will curve, dip and elevate in ways that the rigid straightaways of the first game never did. It feels like a more organic environment, and it also keeps you on your toes just a tad bit more since you never really know what's coming around the next bend.
Temple Run 2 is a beautiful game, and there's a greater variety to the types of scenery you'll see, like various temple ruins architecture and forests with sunbeams poking through the leaves. There's a couple of new environmental elements too, like a zip line to ride and mine cart sections. These parts aren't drastically different from the rest of the game's normal running, but they do add some additional drama and excitement to your adventure.
Temple Run 2 brings back 4 playable characters from the original, and each one is associated with a specific power-up. As you unlock the additional characters beyond the default Guy Dangerous, their associated power-ups become unlocked too for any character. There's the standard set of upgradeable attributes too, like a Head Start boost and a coin value increaser, which are also shared across all characters.
The power-up you choose for your character can be activated with a double tap once you've collected enough coins to fill up the associated meter on your screen. The power-up itself can be upgraded too, using the game's premium gem currency. Both coins and gems are available as IAP and are also earned through play. The coins come at a relatively fast clip, especially if you splurge on the IAP coin doubler, but the gems are typically few and far between. It still feels balanced though as the number of gems needed for normal upgrading is gradual.

One other use for the premium gems and something that's a huge change in Temple Run 2 from its predecessor (as well as a point of contention with some of its fans) is the ability to continue your run after a death by spending gems. This essentially sullies the scoring as in theory you could drop enough cash on IAP gems that you could just continue on forever.

What’s changed in Temple Run 2?

 Although Temple Run has set the bar rather high for Temple Run 2,developers have managed to make the new game look really good.
So what's changed in Temple Run 2? Well, the maps are more elaborate - this you can tell straight away as you zip-line your way into a brand new environment. However, the basic swipe controls remain the same as the original game.
Zip-lines aren't the only addition to the Temple Run universe though; you'll also find revolving, spike-ridden wheels of doom, sudden cliff drops, water hazards, and the odd mine train that you'll have to tilt your way through.
If you found the original game difficult, it's unlikely that the sequel will provide you with much reprieve. As you rack up more points, the pace hastens rapidly. Combine this with the additional objects that are trying to kill you throughout the map, and Temple Run 2 is a very challenging game indeed. That doesn't mean that it's not casual though, in fact you now have the chance to use up your in-game gems to resume from where you left off when you die.
After spending many months playing on the original version of the game, the new environments are a breath of fresh air, with new elements such as zip-lines, alongside a number of new obstacles such as broken rocks and water hazards, making the game far more aesthetically pleasing than the last one.
 
When you get bored of your default character, you can purchase three others with in-game coins. Each character has slightly different abilities, although these aren't made too obvious during the game. It would certainly add an extra dimension to the game if one character was particularly stronger, or more agile, than others, so that you could choose based on how you play the game, but as it is, you won't notice a massive amount of difference between them.

To keep you coming back for more, the game will set various challenges, such as "run 500m without collecting any coins," which you have to complete to progress your character to the next level. This helps to increase your score multiplier, allowing you to get high scores very quickly and make your friends jealous of your insane casual gaming abilities. Still, it helps to keep the gameplay fresh, as you're aiming for more than just the highest possible score, like every other time you play the game.

Review on Temple Run 2:It’s a worthy successor

Temple Run has set the bar rather high for its successor, Temple Run 2.

 The basic premise of Temple Run 2 is the same as the original: you're in possession of an idol that's been stolen from an ancient temple, which has angered a particularly murderous monkey who wants to get it back.
However, there are some changes in this worthy successor.The most noticeable upgrade in Temple Run 2 is the vastly improved graphics. Vibrant colours and much more detailed environments add to the appeal of the lost city in the sky setting. 

    Built using the Unity development engine, the Temple Run 2 landscape has been improved throughout, with curved roads and hills replacing the more angular terrain of the original game. Waterfalls and other scenic additions also appear periodically, adding a more realistic feel to the often-monotonous setting of the original.

The game world has also been upgraded to include new zipwire and mine cart sections. Players will periodically have to slide down rope ziplines or hop into minecarts and navigate a web of mining tracks deep within the caves. 
Although some users have found that the new upgraded graphics have come at a performance cost, with any incoming texts, emails or notifications causing the game to lag, Imangi has been quick to issue a patch. That said, such delays have cost the lives of many a plucky adventurer in our experience. 
Temple Run 2 benefits from retaining the original game’s control mechanics. Players must utilise a tried and tested swipe control system. Swiping left and right to make turns, users have to swipe up and down to avoid various hazards along the route, including fire-breathing statues and precariously placed rocky outcrops. Tilting the device controls the mine carts as well as letting users pick up power-ups and the coins and gems that make up the currency for Temple Run 2.
Coins are used throughout Temple Run 2, allowing you to unlock characters and upgrade their various abilities. At the start there are four characters to chose from, and unlike the original Temple Run, these are not distinguished by purely cosmetic reasons, but also by the upgrades they offer.
Gems on the other hand are used to buy a “restart” when a player’s character unfortunately meets its end. Players can continue from where they made their error by spending gems, instead of having to return to the start of the game.


This seems to diminish the competitive aspect that was so alluring in the original game. In Temple Run 2, high scores can be achieved through spending real money on a steady supply or gems, rather than perseverance and dedication to developing a skill at the game. Something even Wayne Rooney was seen tweeting about when playing Temple Run.
Both coins and gems can be earned by playing the game, but whilst coins are freely available, gems are far scarcer. The in-app store sells both for between 69p and £13.99 for 5,000 – 400,000 coins or 5 – 500 gems.
