Review on Angry Birds

Most casual news watchers are familiar with explosives that have names like "bunker busters" and "daisy cutters." However, in Rovio Mobile's popular game, Angry Birds, multicolored chickens can take on the properties of these same bombs when pushed to the limits by egg-stealing green pigs.

Explosive chickens, adorable as they are, would be pointless without big buildings to topple, and Angry Birds provides more than 200 of them, with more added all the time. You can thoroughly demolish anything from stone castles to glass houses as you punish those evil, egg-stealing pigs.
To play, you simply load up a chicken in your slingshot, pull back while setting your angle, and let go to start the destruction. Angry Birds' gameplay is incredibly easy to understand, and the visual payoff for blowing stuff up is consistently impressive. Blue chickens split up in midair for a spread effect; heavy bomb chickens explode and send structures flying; and egg-laying hens let you deliver a yolky payload directly below.

You always receive the chickens in a particular order, which diminishes some of the strategy. Even though some chickens can be used to set up chain reactions, like using a burrowing hen to soften up a building's stone exterior and then following up with a ticking explosive chicken to blast out the walls--you don't get to do this if you don't get the chickens in this order.
Although you might fling your chickens in the same spot each time, the game's sensitive physics system usually gives different results. It's generally impossible to re-create specific trajectories and reactions, so there's some luck involved where obtaining a high score (and a full three-star rating) is concerned. There aren't really any tangible benefits to completing every mission with a three-star score, besides boasting about your score on the online leaderboards, anyway. Angry Birds has some minor issues, but most of the time, you won't notice because you'll be too busy trying to squish pigs and make full use of your chicken arsenal. The game's weapons, physics, and varied levels are really quite excellent, and they make this military-farm-complex a whole lot of fun.

Angry Birds Review: a three year old can play too!

Do I really need to talk about Angry Birds? I went back and forth on writing this piece as Angry Birds is one of the most ubiquitous games in history. It takes advantage of the growth of touch screens, with all of the controls so simple a three year old can play.

Gameplay
I will start by saying that this is the game on my phone I have spent the most time on,
and I believe the reason is its addictive game play.
Even if you do the same thing over and over again I almost seem to never get bored with watching my angry birds fly across the screen.
I believe the main reason for my part is that the physics of the game just seem so natural,
as if birds really would fly that way if slung from a slingshot, and that wood and stone really
would break and fall like that if hit by homing birds.
It simply is one of the best games ever made for any platform.
Story
A tribe of green pigs keeps stealing the birds eggs, and you have to help get them back.
Graphics
The look and feel of this game is just great. Everything seems well thought out, from the way you can zoom in on what suits you, the birds the pigs or if you should like, zoom out til you can see everything on the entire screen.
Sound
Not much music to speak of, the game play how ever is accompanied with a multitude of sounds, birds pigs and the sounds of birds against timber and stone. More or less sounds like you are in a zoo. My favorite way of hurling mad birds towards evil pigs is with the sound muted.
Controls
You control the birds more or less the same way you would use a slingshot in real life, Put tension
on the rubber band and when satisfied release.
Some of the birds have special moves witch you use simply by tapping the screen.

What Angry Birds Teaches Us

Angry Birds is one of my favorite examples of a game that can teach us. As difficult as some of the levels are, the time it takes to restart each level is minimal. This keeps the gamer from getting frustrated and quitting and allows them to quickly get back into the game and learn from their previous mistake. Failure is something we have written about before, and that is because we see it not just as character building, but one of the best ways to learn.

Trying to knock down the scaffolding in the picture above is going to be difficult. You have to understand the physics and mechanics of the game. you have to know what tools you are given and how best to use them. The bird in the illustration will drop and “egg” that explodes on impact when you tap your screen, but where should you use it? Some of the scaffolds look precarious. Can you set off a chain reaction that causes each level to collapse?
Modern games have perfected the ‘physics engines’ to the point where we expect them to act like real life. Angry Birds is remarkably close to real life (at least as close as a cartoon birds can be), not in terms of Force = Mass x Acceleration, or any math based physics, but in how the reactions feel to the gamer. The cause and effect of the game make sense and are internally consistent. You know that when you use a yellow bird, it will smash through wood easily. Or when you take out a support beam, the platform will wobble and collapse.

The game will also show you the line that represents the flight from your previous bird, so you can make adjustments to angles, speeds, etc. very quickly. That kind of instant feedback is key to making an immersive experience, but also in helping your recover from the frustration of a bad shot as well. It also helps improve hand to eye (finger to eye?) coordination by allowing you to trace out a good shot, or quickly identify where you could improve.
