Major differences between Temple Run and Temple Run 2

What are the major differences between Temple Run and Temple Run 2?

I think the game came out less than a week ago for Android, and less than a month ago for IoS. I myself got it 2/3 days ago for my Ipod, and I have only just started playing. So it's a bit difficult to share tips, but I will definitely try to point out the differences.

The first major difference from Temple Run 1 (henceforth referred to as TR1) is the graphics. However, if you have played Temple Run: Brave, the Disney character themed version of TR1, you will find a lot of similarities from there.

In Temple Run 2 (TR2), at the very beginning of the game, you will notice that your character is being chased by one big gorilla like creature instead of the 3 small apes of TR1.

Also, your character will travel down a zipline within the first one minute or so, which is a new addition. You can tilt your character to right and left for getting in line of the coins, but that's all you can do during the zipline session.

The landscape is different, and you will often bump in to confusing skyline views where you think you can jump, but actually you were supposed to go right or left.

There are new obstacles like rivers and rolling birbwires which can be jumped.

You will also come across stones and tree trunks where you are supposed to slide.

There are some new powerups, and you can revive at any point of time by using gems. You also get gems during gameplay.

There is also some underground levels where you have to ride a cart. These levels bring a welcome change in pace, but it might be a bit tricky. Bumping in to intersections is very common, and as these sections are very fast paced, keeping your eyes open and concentrating on the road is more important than collecting gold.

As of now, only 4 characters can be unlocked and played with, and Guy Dangerous remains as the default character (similar to TR1). 3 originals make a return, and 1 new character is there. The Conquistador, Football Player and the police guy is missing.

Overall, the game seems influenced by competing products like Agent Dash, and although the old school flavor of TR1 is still charming, I am sure most players will soon upgrade themselves to TR2.
